CPL Carbon Link

Client: CPL Carbon Link.

Reels in Motion were commissioned to produce a short, animated video for CPL Carbon Link in January 2017. The aim of the animation was to inform potential customers what it is that CPL do, how they do it, and to also give the audience an overview of how the carbon reactivation process works.

David Reay, Marketing Manager from CPL Carbon Link commented…

“This was our first experience of commissioning and producing an animated film here at CPL Carbon Link, and the team at Reels in Motion helped and advised us every step of the way.

Having provided Reels in Motion with an initial hand-drawn storyboard concept, their Producer, Phil, spent time with me formalising a more technical animation guide/storyboard, paying great attention to the details and peculiarities of our business, and also supplied a range of options in terms of experienced voiceover artists.

The project was then handed over to the animator, Nick, who completed the whole project to a very high standard, on time and within budget, and was happy to make small adjustments to the film right up to the last minute.

The result is a concise, fun but informative animated film which explains to customers and prospects what we do and how we do it, and hopefully helps to convince them to entrust their carbon filter and environmental purification requirements to CPL Carbon Link.”

You can watch the video here… http://www.reelsinmotion.co.uk/portfolio-item/cpl-carbon-link/

Video on Twitter

build brand awareness

build brand awareness

Twitter is an online social media networking platform that enables its users to send and read short 140 character messages called “tweets”. From breaking news and entertainment to business adverts and personal opinions, Twitter provides its users with the full story and all of the live commentary that comes with it.

Everyday marketers are searching for an effective way to promote their products and services to their businesses audience, to keep them engaged and connected. When uploading a video onto Twitter, you only have 30 seconds to capture all of the content. Seems like a short time right? Yet you typically lose around a third of your viewers after 30 seconds, so this time constraint definitely works in your favours and keeps your viewers engaged. When editing your footage, it is as simple as drag and drop. You can delete all of the bad clips and creatively switch up scenes to suit your brands style and team’s personality. Be sure to include an interesting caption and a relevant but popular hashtag to help achieve your views!

tv

When uploading a video onto Twitter, a marketer will always need to consider what approach will be the most successful and what they are hoping to achieve at the end of it.

Respond to your tweets By making your followers feel more comfortable when engaging with your business through Twitter, will be an excellent opportunity for your followers to get to know the people behind the brand. Video is a simple way to respond to your audience, and its far more engaging than a simple tweet. By responding to your audience through video, helps you to stand out from your competitors. Start a campaign where your followers have the opportunity to ask your team questions, this can build up engagement and brand awareness.

Share real-time events More and more brands are using Twitter video to cover and record events as they’re happening. Twitter video builds up more interactivity by involving followers in the big day if they can’t be there. Plus, Twitter stands out in the fast moving Twitter feed, so this can help your business to stand out and get more attention. Twitter video works equally well if you’re holding your own event and want to gain more exposure. Capture a quick 30 second video and share it with your followers to keep people connected and up-to-date with your brand. Not only does it update those who can’t make it to the event, but it also encourages those who have attended the event to tweet and engage with others and the business.

Promote and educate By sharing or retweeting content other than your own is useful and fun for your audience as it shows that you are connecting with your industry and keeping up-to-date with all of the latest news. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t create your own content through promotional videos. By creating your own videos shows that you have a passion for your business and that you would like your followers to also be a part of it. 92% of marketers believe that the purpose of videos should be to inform or educate. So by creating educational content in a visually interesting way will help your followers to connect and engage more easily with your business. Studies show that visuals drive up to 180% more engagement! So whether you want to tell a story that’s fun, educational or corporate, video is an important tool to use because people respond well to visuals.

Don’t forget, people remember…
20% of what they hear,
30% of what they see,
and 70% of what they hear and see.

Ask for user-generated content Why not ask your followers to contribute a video? You could even run a contest that encourages your followers to get involved and add a bit more excitement to your companies’ profile. You’ll need to think about what you want the subject of the video content to be and start promoting it. Let your followers know whether you want a simple, fun video or whether you want your followers to include your product or service. Make sure to create your own unique hashtag for your followers to use when they share their video. This helps you to easily find and track their tweets, as well as promote the hashtag across a wider audience to increase your followers and boost your brand awareness.

GoPro regularly ask their followers to send them videos using the GoPro and they then share a ‘video of the day’ tagging their follower and using the GoPro hashtag.

Space Balloon

This year KMF http://www.kmf.co.uk/ launched their fourth Young Engineer of the Year (YEOTY) project which is based around the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), helping students to develop their skills. The challenge saw year 10 students from 25 Staffordshire schools go head-to-head to take the best selfie in Space! #sentintospace. The students had to launch GoPro cameras up to 33 kilometres and use tracking devices to calculate the landing point for retrieval. Michelin http://michelindevelopment.co.uk/; decided to sponsor and support a group of Year 10 students from Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy, who wanted to take on the challenge.

Since 2008, we have filmed a wide variety of videos with Michelin for both internal and external communications, travelling across the UK to all of Michelin’s sites including Stoke, Dundee and Ballymena, interviewing staff from various departments, to people working on the factory floor, sharing their knowledge and experiences about the company. Over the past decade we have also worked with Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy on many projects, creating a number of enrichment videos that involved both students and staff, to show what activities are available at the school helping students to develop their skills needed for the future. The videos were created to be used at opening evenings to inspire and encourage families and potential students. Because we have grown such a successful relationship with both of our clients, it was a great opportunity for us to take part in this challenge.

SPACE BALLOON EDIT DRAFT 3

Our job was to capture all of the action of the project and the students working together as a team to complete the challenge successfully. We visited Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy http://www.ormistonsirstanleymatthewsacademy.co.uk/ on the 4th May 2016, to film the students’ preparation for the Space Balloon Challenge. As Michelin were sponsoring the school, they also decided to take part and offer their support to the students. The students were very excited to take part in the challenge and explained how it would be a great opportunity to develop their skills. We interviewed everyone taking part to see what the project was about, why they wanted to be involved, and how the project has been going so far.

LAUNCH DAY (12th May 2016)
To start the day off, we arrived at Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy at 7:30am, to speak to the students about what they expected to achieve from the day and see how they were all feeling. They were definitely more excited than nervous! The whole challenge was filmed by manned cameras and GoPro cameras that had been set up in the tracking vehicle. When we arrived at the RAF Cosford Museum, the students had already got their team set up and allocated jobs. The students were very eager to get the final preparation completed and take part in the final challenge. Then it was time to launch! The balloon contained a miniature Michelin Man and a GoPro camera so that we were able to capture footage from Space! Once the balloon had been released, the students headed off to track the journey of the balloon and where it would land. The whole challenge depended on where the balloon would land and the weather. We captured the whole journey on a GoPro camera that had been attached to the tracking vehicle. The exciting part of the journey was that no one had any idea where the balloon would land.

Overall, Reels in Motion were honoured to work with Michelin on this exciting project with Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy and capture all of the action from the Balloon Challenge. We then combined all of the footage from the students’ preparation for the day and the live action to produce the final video http://www.reelsinmotion.co.uk/portfolio-item/michelin-space-balloon/  The shoot was a massive success and we were able to record all of the action from the day and the students working together to launch their balloon. Throughout the day the team were kept up-to-date across social media with our clients and other companies tweeting about the day. The edit was an overall success and Michelin loved the first edit that they received. On 7th July 2016, Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy attended the KMF Young Engineer of the Year Awards and achieved the best video award with support of Michelin. The project had been a great success overall and we were pleased to be a part of the experience.

Olympic Technology!

The 2016 Olympics are nearly at a close and people all over the world have been tuning in to watch their favourite sporting events and superstars compete on the world stage. This year’s summer Olympics hosted in Rio, Brazil, will have a total of 31 different events ranging from indoor sports like badminton and boxing, water sports including swimming and canoeing, and of course outdoor events which include archery, cycling, football and the most popular, track and field in the athletics.

Since the modern Olympic Games began in Athens, the games have since been hosted every four years across the world. It wasn’t until 1936 where the Berlin Games became the first sports event to be televised live, and since then fans have been wowed, not only with the impressive opening and closing ceremonies and athlete’s incredible performances, but also by the mind blowing footage and live coverage that technology has been able to provide as it’s developed with modern day society.
It’s funny to think that it wasn’t until the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 that we were blessed to be able to watch the Games in colour. How times have changed! Even more mind boggling to some, it was the 1984 Los Angeles Games that were the testing ground for high-definition television!

This brings us as swiftly on as Usain Bolt to Rio de Janerio. As already witnessed by many of the Reels team, we have been in awe of some of the live coverage and montage footage the BBC have brought to our screens over the last week. The high tech camera and audio equipment used at these 2016 games has captured action, emotion and sheer sporting passion like never before!

Panasonic has been the Olympic Games official host broadcast equipment supplier for many of the previous Olympic events and their involvement began in 1984 for the Los Angeles Games where they supplied the large video display and sound system in the main arena. This year, we are now able to enjoy all the action from 2016 in a variety of different ways and at the highest quality possible!

The eyes in the sky!
Drone cameras have been around for a few years now. Since the London Olympics in 2012, there has been an explosion in aerial technology used for TV broadcasting. This year’s games will experiment with the airborne technology to capture some of the most specular aerial shots over numerous events. What Rio doesn’t want a repeat of is the near drone collision that Marcel Hirscher came close to in Alpine Skiing World Cup in 2015. The Austrian was only seconds into his run when the drone came crashing down out of the sky missing him be a whisker!

Extraordinary Enhanced Vision
We have all heard of ‘4K’ which is the newest advance technology to be hitting our television sets, bringing a new dimension to viewing pleasure at home. Well, organisers for this year’s Games have taken things to a whole new level and recorded 130 hours of 8K (that’s right, you’re not seeing things) 130 hours of 8K footage to amaze and excite viewers this year. There is one slight problem though… Unfortunately, consumer televisions are not yet compatible with 8K. You’ll need to book your flights over to Japan where this super high definition footage will be aired to the public in broadcasting centres around the island in East Asia. Small price to pay for some delicious 8K!

V to the R
You’ll all be pleased to know that you won’t need to jump on a flight over to Japan for an Olympic virtual reality experience. The Olympic Broadcasting Services and the International Olympic Committee body will be filming virtual reality footage from various events throughout the Games this year. The footage will include the athletics and beach volleyball which will be made available to international broadcasters including our very own BBC. The Beeb will make the footage available through a special Olympic app and viewers will be able to watch their favourite events using the Samsung Gear VR or Google Cardboard. This, yet again, will bring a whole new viewing experience to the Games in Rio which you can experience from the comfort of your own home. Just watch out for those javelins hurtling towards you!

No need to miss any action
When we hosted the Olympics back in 2012 in London, the BBC had dedicated 24 hour HD channels so viewers could always keep up to date with the action. This year although the channels aren’t available, the BBC haven’t let us down. Much like the coverage for Glastonbury and Wimbledon, we can log onto BBC iPlayer where viewers can watch all the major events live or catch up on sports they may have missed through the wonderful world wide web.

We hope you are all enjoying the Games as much as we are and fingers crossed we can bring home a few more gold medals! GO TEAM GB!!

How Twitter can improve your business.

Twitter is a social media platform where you are able to discover what is happening in the world in real time, share information instantly, and connect with other users and businesses all around the globe. Twitter is so successful it now has over 600 million active users a month and 500 million tweets sent per day! As a result, Twitter offers businesses the opportunity to attract potential customers who are interested in what they have to offer. The success of Twitter continues to increase as 80% of its users are accessing the social media platform via a mobile device. Users who access Twitter through their mobile device, are more likely to interact through Twitter than those who access it through a laptop. This gives businesses a massive opportunity to engage with customers no matter where they are in the world, and at any time.

Businesses across the globe recognise the success Twitter can have on improving their marketing strategy, as well as being able to achieve an established online presence using the social media platform. Twitter allows businesses to research current affairs within their industry, and what it is that their customers are interested in. The Twitter search helps you to find discussions that are currently taking place and are relevant to your company. This allows you to raise the profile of your business and also build valuable connections. Adding your opinion into a Twitter discussion will help your business become more noticeable and help you increase the number of followers you have.

By regularly using Twitter to communicate with your followers and potential customers, you are able to raise your profile awareness for your business and increase market impact. Communicating regularly with your followers will help you provide a greater customer service and develop a good reputation for your business. Not only will interacting with your customers help improve your overall service, but it will also help your business become more noticeable by potential customers. Twitter doesn’t just help you to effectively communicate with your customers, but it also enables you to connect with just about anyone.

chat

As a result of connecting and communicating on Twitter, you will be able to receive feedback on your customer’s experience with the company, how you are able to improve your product/service or even how you could improve your customer services. Receiving feedback through Twitter will help you improve future decisions and help you build a better reputation. Not only will this benefit your brand loyalty with individual customers, but it will also notify your followers and potential customers that you are always there to communicate. As a result, it may also help your business to develop competitiveness through Twitter as other customers from your competitors may acknowledge that your company is more reliable.

Twitter has a massive impact on how you are able to attract more people to your business and market your products or services without having to pay a penny. The social media platform also allows you to build a good reputation and brand awareness. You are able to give the latest updates on Twitter about your company or subjects related to your business by tweeting regularly. Regular updates about your company including website links to other social media platforms that your business uses will help you to further your engagement, and help your business to become noticed by other social media users. A popular feature to include in your tweets is hashtags. Including hashtags in your tweets will help you to build a conversation with your target audience, and get your businesses name out there on social media. Whether you’re a small or large business, creating your own hashtag will help your business to be easily recognised by the public and build brand awareness.

hashs

Businesses can also use Twitter to research about their competitors and keep up-to-date with their activity for free, just by using the Twitter search. Twitter not only lets you read what customers are saying about your business, but you are also able to read what other customers are saying about your competitors. Monitoring your competition on a regular basis can help you to improve your marketing strategy and persuade their customers to do business with you instead. If your competition isn’t dealing with their customer complaints and offering good customer service, this then gives you the opportunity to step in and tweet the customer back. Not only will this help you to get noticed by that particular customer, but it will also help you to be noticed by other customers of your competitors. As a result of being able to monitor your competitors’ success and help you to improve the marketing strategy of your business, Twitter can also help you to increase the sales of your business and help you to make a profit.

Many businesses use a number of sources that allow them to manage their Twitter accounts, so that they are able to regularly update tweets at reasonable times and not have to worry about missing out on that perfect opportunity to market their business. Hootsuite is one of the most popular social media management tools that has been designed in order to help businesses find marketing easier. It is a great for managing your social media if you’re struggling to keep up with each of your accounts. You are able to log into the Hootsuite Dashboard and schedule posts and updates, which provides you with more time to focus on other aspects of marketing.

hoots

Businesses are able to monitor their social media accounts through Hootsuite, helping them to identify when they have been mentioned and who by and when their competition or industry specifics have been mentioned. By using this to your advantage, businesses are able to identify what they need to do in order to improve interaction with their company on social media. Hootsuite helps businesses to monitor the success of their social media and provide results so that you are able to identify where improvements will need to be made when marketing through your social media accounts. You are able to monitor the bounce rate for your website, how many likes, comments, shares and followers you have been able to achieve in a period of time, link popularity and your daily growth. Using Hootsuite as your social media marketing system, it will help you to recognise who your audience are and their characteristics i.e. gender, language etc.

Communicating with your team can become easier when using Hootsuite as you can use Hootsuite conversations right from your dashboard to collaborate with members of your team and your entire company. Hootsuite makes it easier for you to delegate particular marketing roles, including responding to comments and posts, and to other members of your social media team. Your team members are then able to log into Hootsuite and are able to see which tasks you have assigned to them.

Once you have provided a positive service by engaging and helping your customers and followers on Twitter, this will help you to build a relationship with them and create customer loyalty with your business. As Twitter is a social media platform it allows you to communicate through real time and build relationships with customer every day. Not only does it allow you to provide a good customer service to your customers, you are also able to communicate and build brand awareness at any time and wherever you are.

Warwickshire College Group https://www.warwickshire.ac.uk/ are one of the largest further and higher educational academies in the UK with six unique colleges across two counties, offering their students a range of courses and extra-curricular activities. They encourage and help their students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset by teaching innovative skills and behaviours, so that their students can become successful in the competitive world.

Reels in Motion were commissioned to film three short non-broadcast videos for Warwickshire College Group to help promote one of their colleges – Moreton Morrell. The short films were created to explain the experience and achievements that a student can expect when attending the college, and to promote the launch of their new sports courses and sports academies that that available to the students in September 2016.

Sport Academies Draft 3-Moreton Hall

In March 2016, we travelled across the county filming at Moreton Morrell College and The Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry over a three-day period, which helped us to get as much footage as possible. On the first day of the shoot, we visited Moreton Morrell College to film the different activities that take place on a day-to-day basis from; horse riding to construction work. Through the day we were also able to capture a number of cutaways and a to-camera piece by Andrew Cropley, the Director of Moreton Morrell College, who spoke about how successful the plans for the new sports courses and academies have been so far, and the future plans for the sports facilities to improve the college further.

As part of the Sports Academies video, the team visited The Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry to interview David Busst, the Director of Sky Blue in the Community, who spoke about their partnership with Moreton Morrell College and what experiences are available for the students.

On the final day of the shoot, focused on the new sports courses and sports academies which become available to the students in September 2016. We were able to film the students taking part in a number of sports activities such as cricket, basketball and badminton.

Once all of the filming had been complete, the footage was then edited into three short non-broadcast videos to help promote the new sports courses and sports academies that will be available to the students at Moreton Morrell College in September 2016.
